William W. Baker extends his condenses
Please permit me to express my sorrow to learn of the death of my dear friend Sheik Ahmed Kuftaro. As most of you know, I was a frequent visitor to his home in Damascus, and met with him several times during his visits to the United States. You may also recall that it was in conversation with the Grand Mufti in his home many years ago when, after many hours of conversation concerning Islam and Christianity, he said to me: "My dear brother William, we are in the same CAMP." This later led me to create, with the guidance of Almighty Allah, the acronym CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS FOR PEACE (CAMP).

Since that day, I have established chapters of CAMP in several foreign countries where Muslims and Christians had been fighting and killing each other for years, and they are now living together in Peace. One such example is on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines.

I want you to know that his constant emphasis upon Peace for all men in all the world will live on not only in and through me, but thousands upon thousands of world leaders and common citizens who have read or heard his words and teachings, and the many thousands who have heard me speak around the world. I have always acknowledged his influence in my life to every audience I have ever spoken to, and will continue to do so until the day that Almighty Allah calls me to my reward.

I have contacted Dr. Robert Schuller and informed him of the passing of his friend, the Grand Mufti. Those of mankind who treasure Peace, Justice, and human kindness have lost a great friend and leader, but he has left us guidance to these important paths through his many writings, sermons, students and disciples of which I gladly count myself as one.

Please contact me if I may be of any assistance in any manner to the family, to you Salah, or to Syria, truly a second homeland whose citizen I have become.

Assalamu Alaikum

William W. Baker, President of CAMP, Christians and Muslims for Peace
